“Sponsor a Tailor” helps kickstart an existing tailor with a scholarship into the pad business. This is not only a blessing for the tailor and her family, but as well for those who will buy the pads. Our hope is to teach, equip, and train other Nepalis to take these washable reusable pads,

and reach many other women in need.

What our tailors receive :

1. One day training event

  • Tailor Training

All sponsored tailors will be trained by a professional Nepali lead tailor in the skills of making pads using refined techniques to ensure pad durability, and how to maximize the fabric to produce the most pads possible.Tailors will bring their own sewing machines and produce several pads while under the instruction of the lead tailor and the Nepal Compassion team.

  • Health Information

It is important for our tailors to know the basics of the feminine reproductive system so they can transmit this education to and answer questions from women. Bringing education in the domain of menstruation greatly lightens the Hindu burden of being unclean. Women will learn why menstruation is a gift from God, the Creator, to be able to have children. Our tailors will receive the same education as the women do in our “Sponsor a Girl” program.

2. Materials
Each sponsored tailor will receive all necessary materials to kickstart them to make and sell pad kit pad kits.

Materials include: all fabric, clasps, string, fabric pencil, patterns and more.

They will also receive 100 copies of pad-care instructions to distribute to customers purchasing the pads. The instructional paper will include the same video link to educate women on menstruation as well as a video link on the proper way to clean the pads.
