The Nepal Compassion team is doing everything it can to help sponsored seamstresses become self-reliant so that they, in turn, cana source of support for other women.
The program includes:
A training day including sewing instruction and health education.
A sewing classtaught by a professional instructor who shares all the skills and techniques needed to ensure the high-quality, precise, and efficient production of washable sanitary pads.
Menstrual health education. Each seamstress will then be able to inform other women and answer their questions.
A starter kit containing all the necessary materials to start making and selling reusable sanitary pads, including various fabrics, threads, fastening clips, sewing pins, and patterns.
100 instruction sheets to be given to each client along with the sanitary pads, to clearly explain how to use and wash them properly.
TheThe Nepal Compassion team ensures the smooth distribution of supplies so that every woman can regain her freedom and dignity during her period.
The kit includes:
7 washable sanitary pads, locally made by Nepalese seamstresses, consisting of three layers: a cotton top layer that absorbs while keeping the skin dry, a central layer of 4 layers of flannel for optimal absorption, and a waterproof bottom layer that prevents leaks and protects clothing.
2 specially designed panties, designed to hold sanitary pads, and available in four sizes.
A soap to help her take care of herself during her period, while maintaining her hygiene and health.
Instructions : A small leaflet summarizes the instructions, featuring text in Nepali and simple images for women who cannot read. A YouTube link to an instructional video on washing pads, which is essential for women’s health and the longevity of the products.
